Friday morning
Scripture
It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (WEB)
Reflection
There is a reason this promise is tied to the morning. Night has a way of magnifying our regrets. We lie awake replaying the sharp word we spoke, the thing we left undone, the worry we cannot fix. By the time the sun comes up, yesterday can feel like it is still clinging to us.
But God does not ration His mercy. He does not hand you a fixed amount at birth and watch you spend it down. His compassions are new every morning, delivered fresh to your door like bread still warm from the oven. Whatever you carried into the dark, you do not have to carry it into the day.
This is not a call to pretend yesterday did not happen. It is an invitation to set it down. The same faithfulness that held you through the night is already waiting in the light. You are not behind. You are not used up. You are met, again, by a love that refuses to fail.
So before the noise begins, breathe. Receive the mercy that is already here.
Prayer
Father, before I do anything today, let me receive Your mercy as the first gift of the morning. Amen.
A thought to carry
You do not have to earn a fresh start. It is already waiting for you in the light.
